What is ISO 207692 - Non-destructive testing about?

ISO 20769 is a multi-part series that discusses the radiographic inspection of corrosion and deposits in pipes by X-ray and gamma rays for non-destructive testing.

ISO 207692 is the second part that specifies fundamental techniques of film and digital radiography with the object of enabling satisfactory and repeatable results to be obtained economically. The techniques are based on generally recognized practice and fundamental theory of the subject.

ISO 207692 applies to the radiographic examination of pipes in metallic materials for service induced flaws such as corrosion pitting, generalized corrosion and erosion. Besides its conventional meaning, “pipe” as used in ISO 207692 is understood to cover other cylindrical bodies such as tubes, penstocks, boiler drums and pressure vessels.

ISO 207692 covers double-wall inspection techniques for the detection of wall loss, including double wall single image (DWSI) and double wall double image (DWDI).

ISO 207692 applies to in-service double-wall radiographic inspection using industrial radiographic film techniques, computed digital radiography (CR) and digital detector arrays (DDA).

Note: Weld inspection for typical welding process-induced flaws is not covered in ISO 207692, but weld inspection is included for corrosion/erosion type flaws.

Who is ISO 207692 - Non-destructive testing for?

ISO 207692 on double-wall radiographic inspection for non-destructive testing applies to:

  • Manufacturing of radiographic machines
  • Companies dealing with inspection of corrosion and deposits in pipes

Why should you use ISO 207692 - Non-destructive testing?

A technique that is used to radiation that passes through two walls and only the weld material on the film side wall is viewed on the radiograph.

The purpose of ISO 207692 is to provide you with the guidance for double-wall radiographic inspection that contains a digital image recording, storage, processing, viewing, radiographic/digital image sensitivity, quality and evaluation.

As a user of ISO 207692, you can acquire guidance for protection against ionizing radiation. All these procedures and guidelines will help you to conduct a double-wall radiographic inspection for non-destructive testing.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN ISO 207692:2018 supersedes BS EN 164072:2014, which is withdrawn.
