What is ISO 10675-1 about?
ISO 10675-1 discusses about testing of welds. ISO 10675-1 specifies acceptance levels for indications from imperfections in butt welds of steel, nickel, titanium and their alloys detected by radiographic testing. If agreed, the acceptance levels can be applied to other types of welds or materials.
NOTE 1: ISO 10675-1 assumes that the radiographic testing has been carried out in accordance with ISO 17636-1 for RT-F (F=film) or ISO 17636-2 for RT-S (S=radioscopy) and RT-D (D=digital detectors).
NOTE 2: The acceptance levels in ISO 10675-1 can be related to welding standards, application standards, specifications, or codes.
Who is ISO 10675-1 for?
ISO 10675-1 on non-destructive testing welds is applicable to:
- Companies involved in metal testing services
- Metal component quality and maintenance services
- Metal component manufacturers
- Industries where non-destructive metal testing is practiced such as aerospace, automotive, military and defense etc.
Why should you use ISO 10675-1?
Radiographic Testing (RT) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) procedure that examines the interior structure of produced components using either x-rays or gamma rays to find any flaws or defects.
ISO 10675-1 gives you extensive guidance on radiographic technique which includes limitations, determination of area percentage of imperfections and calculation of sum of acceptable areas for steel, nickel, titanium and their alloys. It helps you examine and trace the faults in a non-destructive way which allows you to test the metals and alloys without damaging them.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 10675-1:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 10675-1:2016, which is now withdrawn.
Changes in BS EN ISO 10675-1:2021 include -
- The document has been editorially revised, new Table 1 added with abbreviations, Old Table 1 has been split into Table 2 and Table 3
- In Table 4, acceptance levels for maximum permissible pore sizes of porosity, clustered porosity, linear porosity and for lack of fusion have been added
- The acceptance levels in Clause 6 have been extended
- The captures of Figure B.1 to B.9, figures C.1 & C.2 and the text have been revised to conform with ISO 5817:2014
