BS EN 1621 is a European standard on motorcyclists' protective clothing against the mechanical impact that discusses the motorcyclists' inflatable protectors to ensure the protection of motorcyclists against mechanical impact. 

BS EN 1621-4 is the fourth part in the BS EN 1621 series that covers requirements and test methods for mechanically activated inflatable protectors for motorcycle riders. 

BS EN 1621-4 specifies the minimum level of protection, the minimum intervention time of inflated bag, and the minimum coverage to be provided by motorcyclists' protectors worn by riders. 

The requirements of BS EN 1621-4 are applicable to the various design of inflatable protectors and refer to all body areas and their combinations that are claimed to be protected.
