Mobile waste and recycling containers are designed containers fitted with wheels intended to temporarily store waste. The containers are constructed so that when they are unloaded or loaded with a nominal load, they fit on approved compatible lifting devices. They are automatically locked safely into the lifting devices during the tilting and emptying operation.

BS EN 840-6:2020 supersedes EN 840-6:2012.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- The document has been editorially revised, and Clause 3 "Terms and Definitions" added according to the new CEN Internal Regulation Part 3
- Former subclause 3.1 (now 4.1) has been revised
