What is BS EN 237 - Determination of the lead content of petrol by atomic absorption spectrometry about?

BS EN 237 specifies an atomic absorption spectrometric test method for the determination of the lead content of petrol in the range 2,5 mg/l to 10,0 mg/l. This test method is independent of the lead alkyl type.

Note: Annex A describes an alternative procedure but with a poorer precision for the determination of the lead content of petrol in the range 3,0 mg/l to 10,0 mg/l. This procedure is also independent of the lead alkyl type.

Who is BS EN 237 - Determination of the lead content of petrol by atomic absorption spectrometry for?

BS EN 237 on determination of the lead content of petrol by atomic absorption spectrometry is useful for:

  • Petroleum industry
  • Automotive industry
  • Health safety bodies
  • Environmental pollution control authorities

Why should you use BS EN 237 - Determination of the lead content of petrol by atomic absorption spectrometry?

Lead content in petrol has harmful effects on health causing various fatal diseases. Vehicular emissions are the source of degrading air quality due to such emissions. Therefore determination of lead in petrol is very essential.

Determining low lead concentrations is a difficult process. BS EN 237 provides you with an atomic absorption spectrometry method for such low concentrations.

Using the atomic absorption spectrometry method as specified in BS EN 237 provides you benefits such as relatively low cost, ease of using, high throughput, quantitative analysis of the lead content of liquids.

Overall, BS EN 237 helps you determine low lead concentration in petrol with precision and accuracy.
