BS 684 is a British standard on the methods of analysis of fats and fatty oils that discusses the determination of butylhydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) in animal and vegetable fats and oils to ensure animal and vegetable fats and oils are safe for consumption. 

BS 684-2.36 is the thirty-sixth part of the second part of the BS 684 series that specifies a gas-liquid chromatographic method for the determination of butylhydroxyanisole (tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol) (BHA) and butylhydroxytoluene (2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol) (BHT), used as antioxidants, in animal and vegetable fats and oils.
