What is BS 1728-25 – Aluminium and aluminium alloys about?
BS 1728-25 is a British standard and is a part of the BS 1728 series that discusses the titanium using spectrophotometric chromotropic acid method for the analysis of aluminium and aluminium alloys. Aluminium alloys are widely used in engineering structures and components where light weight or corrosion resistance is required.
BS 1728-25 specifies a general method for the spectrophotometric determination of titanium in aluminium and aluminium alloys. The method applies to products having titanium contents between 0,005 and 0,3 % (m/m).
Note: The method does not apply completely to alloys having silicon contents greater than 1 % (m/m), for which it must be modified as indicated in the Annex.
