What is ISO 1523 – Closed cup equilibrium method about?
ISO 1523 focuses on test for petroleum and its products. The aim of the ISO 1523 is to provide best industry practices to demonstrate the flash point of petroleum and its products by closed cup equilibrium method.
ISO 1523 specifies a method to determine the flash point of paints, varnishes, paint binders,
solvents, petroleum or related products. The method is suitable for use over the temperature range – 30 °C to 110 °C, depending on the use of different apparatus. The interpretation of results obtained from solvent mixtures containing halogenated hydrocarbons should be considered with caution, as these mixtures can give anomalous results.
Note: ISO 1516 is not applicable to water-borne paints which may, however, be tested.
