What is PD CEN/TS 16916 - Moisture content about?

PD CEN/TS 16916 is an international standard used for materials obtained from end-of-Life tyres that specifies the test method used for determining the moisture content presented in the end-of-life tyres.

PD CEN/TS 16916 specifies a method for determining the total moisture content of materials obtained from End-of-Life Tyres (ELT) by drying samples in an oven. The method is applicable to chips, granulates, powders and textiles derived from the treatment of End-of-Life Tyres.

Note: This document is not intended for the determination of moisture content in steel wires.

Who is PD CEN/TS 16916 - Moisture content for?

PD CEN/TS 16916 on Materials obtained from End-of-Life Tyres is useful for:

  • Manufacturers of automotive parts
  • Recycling units
  • Manufacturers of recycling materials

Why should you use PD CEN/TS 16916 - Moisture content

The tyre is considered as an end-of-life tyre when it has no longer to be used on vehicles.

PD CEN/TS 16916 specifies the test method, test requirements and test procedures for end-of-life tyres. This method helps in calculating the percentage of loss in the mass of end-of-life tyres. The principle of sampling is useful in determining the moisture content of these tyres. By using PD CEN/TS 16916 you can identify the failure in buoyancy effects performed on the tyre.
