What is BS EN 61249-2-18 - Properties of copper-clad laminate sheet for interconnection structures about?

BS EN 61249-2-18 is the second part of a multi-series standard used for printed boards and other interconnecting structures. This is useful in producing good quality Polyester non-woven fibreglass reinforced laminated sheets used in interconnecting structures

BS EN 61249-2-18 specifies the requirements for properties of polyester non-woven E-glass reinforced copper-clad laminated sheet, of defined flammability, in thicknesses of 0,80 mm to 1,60 mm.

Some property requirements may have several classes of performance. The class desired

must be specified on the purchase order, otherwise the default class of material will be

supplied.

Who is BS EN 61249-2-18 - Properties of copper-clad laminate sheet for interconnection structures for?

BS EN 61249-2-18 on printed boards and other interconnecting structures is useful for:

  • Manufacturer of printed circuit boards
  • Manufacturers of electronic devices
  • Manufacturers of automotive parts
  • Electronic engineers

Why should you use BS EN 61249-2-18 - Properties of copper-clad laminate sheet for interconnection structures

Printed boards mechanically support electronic components using conductive pads in the shape designed to accept the component's terminals. This helps in connecting these PCBs electrically by using traces, and planes.

BS EN 61249-2-18 specifies the materials to be used in the interconnecting structure according to their operational requirement. This helps in determining the electrical properties of these copper-clad laminate sheet. The non-electric copper properties of the copper-clad laminate are useful in avoiding defects and help to ensure dimensional stability. Non-electrical properties of the base material after the removal of the copper foil help in ensuring the flexural strength, flammability, and water absorption in this copper-clad laminate sheet.

By applying BS EN 61249-2-18, you can manufacture good quality Polyester non-woven fibreglass reinforced laminated sheet used in interconnection structure.
