What is BS EN IEC 63135 about?
BS EN IEC 63135 specifies the minimum operational and performance requirements, methods of Testing, and required test results as applicable for automatic identification systems (AIS) VHF data link (VDL) related parts of an AIS SAR airborne station. BS EN IEC 63135 incorporates the applicable technical characteristics of AIS SAR airborne equipment included in Recommendation ITU-R M.1371 and takes into account the ITU Radio Regulations, where applicable.
BS EN IEC 63135 also specifies the minimum requirements for the interfaces to other equipment suitable to be used as means of input and display data. Attention is drawn on those other requirements specific for airborne equipment that can exist and are beyond the scope of BS EN IEC 63135.
Who is BS EN IEC 63135 for?
BS EN IEC 63135 is applicable for:
- Maritime industries
- Pilot of a ship
Why should you BS EN IEC 63135 use?
BS EN IEC 63135 specifies the requirements for the AIS SAR airborne station. The AIS SAR airborne station shall support search and rescue operations involving SAR aircraft. AIS airborne stations shall process assignment commands in accordance with Recommendation ITU-R M.1371 only if the commands are sent from stations with valid base station MMSI. The AIS SAR airborne station shall have capability to use channels other than AIS 1 and AIS 2. The operating channels can be set using ACA-sentence on the PI.
Only the channel fields, Tx/Rx mode and power level fields of the ACA-sentence are used, and values in all other fields shall be ignored. AIS transponders are designed to help you in providing position, identification, and other information about the ship to other ships and to coastal authorities.
