BS EN IEC 60598-1:2024+A11:2024 reflects a complete editorial review to align with the most recent IEC directives and editing rules and improve the user experience. 

This Edition 10.0 of the standard adds an Annex V comparing its structure to the preceding Edition 9.0. This Annex provides an important interim ‘translation tool’ allowing Edition 10.0 to be used immediately with the existing Part 2’s of IEC 60598 and IEC 60570. 

This edition also introduces the following significant technical changes: 

  1. changes to marking requirements;

  2. revisions to conductor mechanical stress;

  3. revisions to include controlgear;

  4. revisions of the subclause on earthing; 

  5. changes to Annex Q on earth continuity test;

  6. introduction of suspension by magnets;

  7. changes to requirements for luminaires using batteries;

  8. changes to requirements for insulation of SELV circuits;

  9. revised requirements for photobiological safety.


Annex O also lists clauses that have changed significantly enough that consideration should be given to retesting products tested to the previous edition.
