What is PD CLC/TS 61643-22 – Low-voltage surge protective devices about?

PD CLC/TS 61643-22 is an international standard and a part of the PD CLC/TS 61643 series that discusses the surge protective devices connected to telecommunications and signalling networks for low-voltage surge protective devices. SPDs are a cost-effective solution to prevent downtime, improve the system and data reliability, and eliminate equipment damage caused by transient voltages and surges for power and signal lines.

PD CLC/TS 61643-22 describes the principles for selecting, operating, locating and coordinating SPDs connected to telecommunication and signalling networks with nominal system voltages up to 1000 V r.m.s. a.c. and 1500 V d.c.

PD CLC/TS 61643-22 also addresses SPDs that incorporate protection for signalling lines and power lines in the same enclosure (so-called multiservice SPDs).
