What is PD IEC/TR 61328‒ Line conductors and earth wires about?

PD IEC/TR 61328 is an international standard that covers guidelines for stringing equipment and accessory items for live working.

PD IEC/TR 61328 is a technical report, that provides recommendations for the selection and testing where necessary, of conductor stringing equipment and accessory items used for the installation of bare and insulated overhead distribution conductors, bare overhead transmission conductors, and overhead earth wires.

Note 1: The items of equipment under consideration in PD IEC/TR 61328 are used for transmission and distribution systems.

Who is PD IEC/TR 61328‒ Line conductors and earth wires for?

PD IEC/TR 61328 on, Line conductors and earth wires, is useful for:

  • Manufacturers and suppliers of line conductors and earth wires
  • Dealers and importers of line conductors and earth wires
  • Designers of line conductors and earth wires
  • Test houses for line conductors and earth wires

Why should you use PD IEC/TR 61328‒ Line conductors and earth wires?

The increased difficulty of de-energizing existing overhead lines, installing conductors or earth wire in circuits nearby, creates hazards requiring special considerations, particularly regarding earthing and bonding.

PD IEC/TR 61328 recommends the procedures for proper earthing in order to protect equipment, components, and personnel from currents that can result from accidental contact with nearby energized conductors or from the induced or fault currents which can result in some circumstances.

PD IEC/TR 61328 provides you with protective measures against induced static charge due to atmospheric conditions, lightning strikes, or accidental energization. It helps you reduce the potential electrical hazards, by giving certain requirements while choosing suitable equipment and work methods for the protection of personnel or equipment while working live.
