What is ISO 4695 about?
ISO 4695 specifies a method to provide a relative measure for evaluating the extent to and ease with which oxygen can be removed from iron ores when reduced under conditions resembling those prevailing in the reduction zone of a blast furnace.
ISO 4695 is applicable to lump ores, sinters, and hot-bonded pellets.

Why should you use ISO 4695?
Blast furnaces are vertical shaft furnaces that produce liquid metals by introducing a flow of air into the bottom of the furnace along with a mixture of metallic ore, coke, and flux.
ISO 4695 covers one of a few physical test methods that have been developed to measure various physical parameters and to evaluate the behaviour of iron ores, including reducibility, disintegration, crushing strength, apparent density, etc. To facilitate the comparison of results obtained in different laboratories, this method was devised to provide a uniform procedure that had been validated through collaborative testing.
The rate of reduction to determine reducibility is calculated at the oxygen/iron ratio of 0.9.
ISO 4695 will help evaluate the quality of iron ores as feedstocks for blast furnace processes as a result of which you will be able to manage gas flow and internal chemical reactions.

BS ISO 4695:2021 supersedes BS ISO 4695:2015, which is withdrawn.BS ISO 4695:2021 cancels and replaces the fourth edition (ISO 4695:2015), which constitutes a minor revision to correct formula B.3 in Annex B.
