What is ISO 186692 about?

ISO 186692 is part two of the multi-series standard that defines the measuring principles used for measuring piston pins; ISO 186692 applies to piston pins with a nominal outer diameter from 8 mm up to and including 100 mm, for reciprocating internal combustion engines for road vehicles and other applications.

In certain applications, except road vehicles, and provided that mutual agreement is made between the purchaser and the manufacturer, ISO 186692 can be used with suitable modifications.

Who is ISO 186692 for?

ISO 186692 on piston pins inspection measuring principles is useful for:

  • Internal combustion engine manufacturers
  • Piston pins manufacturers
  • Engine testing facilities

Why should you use ISO 186692?

ISO 186692 defines the measuring principles used for measuring piston pins.

ISO 186692 provides general measuring conditions for measuring piston pins. This will help you in accurately measuring the piston pins.

ISO 186692 gives characteristics and measuring principles for outer diameter, inside diameter, length, core hardness, volume change, material defects, visual defects and grinder burn. ISO 186692 aids you in improving the durability of piston pins.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 186692:2020 is the second edition that cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 186692:2004), which has been technically revised.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

  • The scope has been defined more in detail
  • References have been updated
