BS EN 62011-1 is a European standard on insulating that contains the definitions and designations related to, and the general requirements to be fulfilled by, industrial, rigid, moulded, laminated tubes of rectangular cross-section and rods of a rectangular and hexagonal cross-section.

The moulded sections are manufactured using either phenolic or epoxy resins as the binder and using the following reinforcements: cellulosic paper, cotton cloth or glass cloth.

BS EN 62011-1 covers both rods and tubes of natural colour and those containing colouring matter or other additives.

Who is BS EN 62011-1 - Rectangular or hexagonal moulded laminated rod for?

BS EN 62011-1 on rectangular or hexagonal moulded laminated rod is relevant to:

  • Electrical engineers
  • Rod manufacturer
  • Mechanical industries
  • Electrical equipment manufacturer
  • Electronics industry

Why should you use BS EN 62011-1 - Rectangular or hexagonal moulded laminated rod?

These rods are formed by wrapping impregnated layers of material on a mandrel, removing the mandrel and curing in a rectangular or hexagonal mould of the required geometry.

BS EN 62011-1 provides you with designations and abbreviations, general requirements, dimensions, appearance, and conditions of supply ensure the quality for electrical purposes.

Using BS EN 62011-1 guidelines are helpful as it states that the performance of the product which enhances credibility and adopting the best guidance helps to determine insulating materials.
