What is CEN/TS 16555-5 about?

CEN/TS 16555-5 is the fifth part of the multi-series standard that provides guidance on collaboration management. CEN/TS 16555-5 aids in the management of collaboration and productive interaction between individuals, departments, divisions, and third-party organizations engaged in innovation. It applies to all types of organizations, including manufacturing and services industries, voluntary organizations, governmental and social enterprises, but with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Who is CEN/TS 16555-5 for?

CEN/TS 16555-5 on collaboration management is useful for:

  • Managers
  • Board members
  • The development teams
  • Relationship managers

Why should you use CEN/TS 16555-5?

Individuals and organizations would be hard-pressed to possess all the skills and knowledge necessary to innovate regularly and effectively. Through collaboration, it is possible to significantly improve the innovative performance of an organization.

CEN/TS 16555-5 describes the reasons to collaborate in different circumstances and the different ways in which organizations can collaborate, and CEN/TS 16555-5 provides guidance for managing collaboration between individuals, teams, and different organizations.

CEN/TS 16555-5 also informs that collaboration has the power to spark innovation in the workplace because everyone brings a unique set of knowledge and skills to the table. Working together and embracing these differences gives birth to new ideas through the blending of unique viewpoints. Although many businesses recognize the importance of collaboration, there are often unaddressed obstacles that discourage it in the workplace.

CEN/TS 16555-5 covers the addressed issues of how and with whom to collaborate, different types of collaboration and the difficulties and benefits of doing so. Case studies are included in Annex A to provide insight through the experience of others.
