1 Scope and conformance
1.1 Scope
ThisEuropeanStandardspecifies:

a) thestructureandconfigurationofthebackbonecablingsubsystemsofgeneric cablingsystemswithinthe typesofpremisesdefinedbytheotherstandardsintheEN 50173series;

b) channel performancerequirementsinsupportofthestandardsintheEN 50173series;

c) link performancerequirementsinsupportofthestandardsintheEN 50173series;

d) backbonecablingreferenceimplementationsinsupportofthestandardsintheEN 50173series;

e) componentperformancerequirementsinsupportofthestandardsintheEN 50173series.
Safety (electricalsafetyandprotection, opticalpower, fire, etc.) andelectromagneticcompatibility (EMC) requirementsareoutsidethescopeofthisEuropeanStandardandarecoveredbyotherstandardsandregulations. However, informationgiveninthisEuropeanStandardmaybeofassistanceinmeetingthesestandardsandregulations.
