Why should you use BS EN 12351 - Industrial valves?
Industrial valves manage direction or control the flow of a fluid or gas by opening and closing various passageways. BS EN 12351 discusses caps for valves with flanged connections that completely cover the port and the sealing surface of the flange and prevent damage.
The design of caps as described in BS EN 12351 is such that when fitted to flanges, they remain attached during normal handling, transport, and storage until they are removed before installation of the valve. The protective caps fit so tightly that no foreign matter and coarse dirt can penetrate which would impede the correct function of the protected part.
BS EN 12351 directs that the protective caps are designed in such a way that the installation of the valve without removal of the protective cap is impossible. It is recommended that bright signal colours be used, preferably yellow or red. If a particular colour is required, it is indicated in the order. The material of the cap is compatible with the material of the valve and shall not cause contamination or corrosion of the valve.
