What is ISO 28921-2- Isolating valves for low-temperature applications about?

ISO 28921-1 is a series of international standards on industrial valves that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for testing industrial valves.

ISO 28921-2 specifies requirements for the type testing of isolating valves for low-temperature applications to verify the performance of valves at a low temperature from – 50 °C down to – 196 °C. ISO 28921-2 does not evaluate valve actuators unless they are an integral part of the valve.

Valves during testing can be operated manually or an actuator can be used during the testing. The effect of cold gas vapors during testing is taken into consideration in particular if the actuator is mounted directly over the test stand with the cold gases engulfing the actuator.

NOTE: Nominal sizes (DN), nominal pipe sizes (NPS), nominal pressure (PN), and Classes are covered in ISO 28921-1.

Who is ISO 28921-2 - Isolating valves for low-temperature applications for?

ISO 28921-2 on type testing of isolating valves for low-temperature applications is relevant to:

  • Manufacturer of isolating valves
  • Testing laboratories

Why should you use ISO 28921-2 - Isolating valves for low-temperature applications?

Isolating valves, also known as isolation valves, are used to regulate the flow of water from the mains to a water service pipe. They can be used to repair a dripping tap where there is no need to turn off the mains water if one of these valves is installed.

ISO 28921-2 provides guidance on testing criteria and selection of valve design, requirements for test valve, direction for installation and conditions, low-temperature testing requirements.

As a user of ISO 28921-2, you can be ensured of test methods for testing isolating valves. With obedience and compliance to ISO 28921-2, you can efficiently manufacture high-quality isolating valves for low-temperature applications. With ISO 28921-2 you can be ensured that the products consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets. ISO 28921-2 provides you with comprehensive information useful throughout the process of testing.
