What is ISO 23632 about?

ISO 23632 focuses on industrial valves. Industrial valves are mechanical devices that open, close, or partially obstruct passageways to regulate the flow of liquid or gas within a system. ISO 23632 specifies requirements and acceptance criteria for type testing, in compliance with design conditions, of metallic butterfly and ball valves used for isolating services for all industrial applications and serves to validate the product design over 205 cycles. ISO 23632 defines the procedures for extending the qualification of the tested valve to untested sizes and pressure designations of the same product range.

ISO 23632 outlines the requirements and methods for evaluating the performance of metallic industrial valves with respect to seat performance and operating torque capability. ISO 23632 serves to test the accuracy and dependability of the measurements and capabilities of a valve as published by the manufacturer in the valve’s technical documentation.

Note: ISO 23632 excludes testing for safety devices, control valves, thermoplastics valves, and valves for water supply for human consumption and sewage.

Who is ISO 23632 for?

ISO 23632 is useful for organizations that design, build, and maintain industrial valves for the following industries:

  • Industries dealing with high-pressure procedures
  • Valve manufacturers
  • Design engineers
  • Quality control personnel
  • Oilfield production industries
  • Residential uses
  • Petrochemicals
  • Marine industries
  • Industries with gas storage tank

In addition to manufacturers and suppliers of bolted bonnet steel gate valves, the following entities will also use ISO 23632:

  • Mechanical engineers
  • Inspection bodies
  • Design engineers
  • Research and development team
  • Quality control personnel

Why should you use ISO 23632

Industrial valves are devices that are used to regulate liquids, gases, and slurries. The flow of liquids or gases can be controlled using these valves. Fitting a valve correctly increases systems life expectancy and lowers the effects of cavitation. ISO 23632 introduces you to the most reliable method called type validation to validate a range of valve products, covering many aspects, such as its design, material selection and manufacturing processes. ISO 23632 guides you for valve selection, allowing customers to compare different valve types, designs, and brands.

Following validation testing provided in ISO 23632, helps to improve performance and safety in the plants by enabling any customer to specify durable type-tested industrial valves as well as decreasing end-user total cost-of-ownership, by eliminating the possibility of unintentional design flaws. Implementing ISO 23632 on industrial valves can be beneficial for you as it can regulate pressure or flow downstream operating on sophisticated systems and regulates fluid flows in a direction from higher pressure to lower pressure.
