What is ISO 37393 about?

ISO 37393 specifies the main requirements, including size designation and marking, of 5-degree tapered and flat base rims primarily intended for industrial vehicles for use on prepared surfaces.

ISO 37393 also specifies detailed characteristics of existing rim profiles for which an index is provided in Annex A.

Who is ISO 37393 for?

ISO 37393 on industrial rims is applicable to:

  • Manufacturers of wheel rims
  • Automobile manufacturers
  • Suppliers and importers of wheel rims

Why should you use ISO 37393?

The primary function of the rims is to support the tire. Rims provide stability and support to carry weight loads on vehicles and machines.

ISO 37393 is prepared by consulting with tyre and wheel/rim manufacturers for confirmation of suitability of the tyre/rim combinations, particularly with regard to the rim profile and wheel strength which enhances the stability and handling of your tires.

ISO 37393 provides you with terms and definitions, designation and marking, rim profiles and size range of existing rims which allow you to standardize profiles for tyre rims.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 37393:2021 supersedes BS ISO 37393:2008, which is now withdrawn.

The main change in BS ISO 37393:2021 is rim diameter codes larger than 15 have been added.
