What is ISO 22915-3 about?

ISO 22915-3 specifies the tests for verifying the stability of reach trucks (with a retractable mast or fork arm carriage) and straddle trucks, equipped with tilting or non-tilting masts or fork arms and having a rated capacity up to and including 5 000 kg.

The ISO 22915-3 series deals with the safety of industrial trucks, relative to their stability and the verification of that stability.

Note: ISO 22915-3 is also applicable to such trucks operating under the same conditions when equipped with load handling attachments.

Who is ISO 22915-3 for?

ISO 22915-3 on verification of stability of industrial trucks is applicable to:

  • Reach and straddle truck manufacturers
  • Reach and straddle truck operators
  • Reach and straddle truck servicemen
  • Safety regulatory bodies

Why should you use ISO 22915-3 for

In logistic industries, trucks are used the most for stacking and moving goods. The trucks need to be stable enough for smooth functioning and movement of logistics.

The stability tests are presented in the form of a basic part describing and defining stability tests in general together with separate parts that each give specific stability test criteria and requirements for a different truck type.

ISO 22915-3 specifies basic test criteria and requirements for verifying the stability of industrial reach and straddle trucks.

In order to avoid any injury or damage to goods due to an unstable industrial truck, it’s important, to conduct verification tests mentioned in ISO 22915-3.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 22915-3:2021 cancels and replaces the ISO 22915-3:2014, which has been technically revised.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

  • The regional requirements for Australia have been changed (specific requirement deleted)
  • The maximum tilt angle for test 8 has been deleted
