What is BS EN 13282-1 – HRB conformity criteria about?

Hydraulic road binders (HRB) are chemical stabilizers made by blending supplementary cementitious materials with portland cement clinker. BS EN 13282-1 is the first part of the hydraulic road binders multi-series.

BS EN 13282-1 defines and gives the specifications for rapid hardening HRB, produced in a factory and supplied ready for the treatment of materials for bases, sub-bases, and capping layers as well as earthworks, in the road, railway, airport, and other types of infrastructure.

BS EN 13282-1 includes the mechanical, physical, and chemical requirements and the classification of these binders based on their compressive strength at 7 days and 28 days. BS EN 13282-1 also includes the conformity criteria and evaluation procedures to be applied by the manufacturer.

Who is BS EN 13282-1 - HRB conformity criteria for?

BS EN 13282-1 on HRB conformity criteria is useful for:

  • Roadway / highway authorities
  • Relevant government / municipal authorities
  • Manufacturers of hydraulic road binder
  • Manufacturers of concrete and concrete products
  • Infrastructure contractors
  • Civil engineers
  • Product development engineers/innovation teams
  • Quality control personnel

BS EN 13282-1 on HRB conformity criteria also applies to relevant authorities that commission work for paving public places, railway platforms, airports, ports, and similar work.

Why should you use BS EN 13282-1 - HRB conformity criteria?

HRBs are finished products, produced in a factory, and supplied ready for use. They are differentiated according to their strength development into rapid hardening hydraulic road binders, specified in BS EN 13282-1, and normal hardening HRB, specified in EN 13282-2. EN 13282-3 defines the conformity evaluation procedure for hydraulic road binders according to BS EN 13282-2.

BS EN 13282-1 provides you with the physical and chemical requirements, durability requirements, requirements on composition, as well as general requirements for hydraulic road binders. In addition, BS EN 13282-1 provides you with guidelines for fineness, initial setting time, soundness as well as conformity criteria for HRB.

Using BS EN 13282-1 guidelines, you would be able to create and manufacture rapid hardening hydraulic road binders that comply with mechanical, physical, and chemical requirements.

Using BS EN 13282-1 guidelines, you would have access to the specifications and conformity criteria for rapid hardening hydraulic road binders so that you can manufacture and supply high-quality road binders that contribute to long-last paving solutions for users.
