What is BS EN 60704-2-14 Determination of airborne acoustical noise in households and similar electrical appliances about?

Food is mandatory for sustainability. The food purchased needs to be stored under low temperatures to prevent it from decaying. The need for cold cabinet and refrigerators come into play for storage of leftover or extra food materials. BS EN 60704-2-14 has been prepared under a mandate given to CENELEC by the European Commission to provide reliable, accurate and reproducible procedures and methods of measuring airborne acoustical noise of household appliances, which consider the recognised state-of-the-art measurement methods.

BS EN 60704-2-14 in conjunction with Part 1 specifies the test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise emission of household refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers for household and similar use.

Note: Other requirements and other EU Directives may be applicable to the products falling within the scope of BS EN 60704-2-14.

Who is BS EN 60704-2-14 - Determination of airborne acoustical noise in household and similar electrical appliances for?

BS EN 60704-2-14 on determination of airborne acoustical noise in household and similar electrical appliances is useful for:

  • Refrigerator Manufacturers
  • Frozen Food cabinet manufacturers
  • Quality Control Personnel

Why should you use BS EN 60704-2-14 - Determination of airborne acoustical noise in household and similar electrical appliances

The measuring conditions specified in BS EN 60704-2-14 provide guidelines for sufficient accuracy in determining the noise emitted and comparing the results of measurements taken by different laboratories, whilst simulating as far as possible the practical use of household refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers.

BS EN 60704-2-14 asks to consider the determination of noise levels as part of a comprehensive testing procedure covering many aspects of the properties and performance of household refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers.

These requirements apply to refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers (fitted with their accessories) for household and similar use, supplied from the mains or from batteries. This shows that the use of BS EN 60704-2-14 guideline will help in understanding the airborne acoustical noise in households and similar electrical equipment.
