What is IEC 60335-2-32 about?
IEC 60335-2-32 discusses about Household and similar electrical appliances. IEC 60335-2-32 deals with the safety of electric massage appliances for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances.
Note 1: Appliances not intended for normal household use but that nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of IEC 60335-2-32
Note 2: As far as is practicable, IEC 60335-2-32 deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all people in and around the home. However, in general, it does not consider:
- people (including children) whose
- physical, sensory, or mental capabilities
- lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction
- children playing with the appliance.
Note 3: IEC 60335-2-32 does not apply to:
- appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes
- appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas)
- electric foot care appliances that do not contain motors and other electric appliances for the care of skin or hair
- electric appliances for beauty care of persons and intended for household, commercial and similar purposes
Note 4: IEC 60335-2-32 also covers abnormal situations that can be expected in practice and considers the way in which electromagnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of appliances.

Why should you use IEC 60335-2-32?
IEC 60335-2-32 internationally accepted level of protection against hazards such as electrical, mechanical, thermal, fire and radiation of appliances when operated as in normal use considering the manufacturer's instructions.
IEC 60335-2-32 specifies massage appliances operations, classification, marking, instructions, protection against access to live parts, leakage current, and electric strength, which helps the manufacturer to provide good quality appliances which ensure users, or operators' safety.
