What is BS EN IEC 630861 about?

BS EN IEC 63086 is a series on household and similar electrical air cleaning appliances. BS EN IEC 630861 applies to electrically powered households and similar air cleaners intended for use on rated single-phase AC input voltage circuits not exceeding 250 V and DC input voltage circuits not exceeding 48 V. Battery-operated appliances are within BS EN IEC 630861.  Dual-supply appliances, either main supplied or battery-operated, are regarded as battery-operated appliances when operated in the battery mode.

Note 1: BS EN IEC 630861 is not applicable to:

  • Appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes
  • Appliances intended for use in medical treatment locations, such as surgical suites, laboratories, medical treatments rooms, etc.
  • Household range hoods or cooking fume extractors – see IEC 61591

Who is BS EN IEC 630861 for?

BS EN IEC 630861 on electrical air cleaning appliances is useful for:

  • Electrical appliance manufacturers
  • Design engineers
  • Home appliances distributers

Why should you use BS EN IEC 630861?

BS EN IEC 630861 discusses electrical air cleaners. Air cleaners are electrically powered household or similar appliances that employs one or multiple technologies to reduce one or more types of indoor air pollutants.

BS EN IEC 630861 recommends that each test shall be conducted in the test chamber without the influence of outside air, direct sunlight and other radiation effects.

Using BS EN IEC 630861 you can test electrical air cleaners that function on single-phase AC input voltage and DC input voltage. Tests described in BS EN IEC 630861 guide you to measure the performance of air cleaners that remove contaminants from the air in a room to improve indoor air quality.
