What is BS EN 303-2-heating boilers with atomizing oil burners about?

BS EN 303 discusses heating boilers. BS EN 303-2 is the second part of the BS EN 303 series and discusses special requirements for boilers with atomizing oil burners. BS EN 303-1 is applicable to boilers used for central heating in accordance with EN 303-1:2017 up to a nominal heat output of 1 000 kW and EN 303-4 up to a nominal heat output of 70 kW with forced draught burners in accordance with EN 267 that are designed for operating with liquid fuels.

The performance requirements of BS EN 303-2 apply to type testing to heating boilers (standard, low temperature, and condensing boilers) which are tested on a test rig in accordance with the test code given in EN 304. BS EN 303-2 applies also to room-sealed boilers as defined in EN 15035 regarding efficiency and emissions. BS EN 303-2 can also be used as the basis for the evaluation of boiler-/burner units.

Who is BS EN 303-2 -heating boilers with atomizing oil burners for?

BS EN 303-2 on heating boilers with atomizing oil burners is useful for:

  • Boiler manufacturers
  • Quality control personnel

Why should you use BS EN 303-2-heating boilers with atomizing oil burners

Boilers shall be fire-resistant and safe to operate. They shall be made of non-combustible materials and shall be resistant to deformation and shall be such that they can withstand the stresses arising during normal operation, the burner and the boiler cannot become heated to create a hazard, dangerous accumulations of combustible gases (fuels mixed with air) in the combustion chamber and in the flues are prevented, and gases cannot leak from the boiler in dangerous quantities.

BS EN 303-2 provides you with the necessary terminology, the performance requirements, and material performance for heating boilers. The performance requirements in BS EN 303-2 include boiler efficiency, draught requirements, gas side resistance, emission values, standby heat loss, auxiliary electricity consumption, and sound power level. The material requirements in BS EN 303-2 help you with test specimen and test duration. BS EN 303-2 helps you in manufacturing high-quality heating boilers with atomizing oil burners

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN 303-2:2017 supersedes BS EN 3032:1999 and BS EN 15034:2006, which are withdrawn. BS EN 303-2:2017 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 303-2:1999 and BS EN 15034:2006. These include:

  • Complete new structure
  • Technical changes related to eco-design and energy labelling
  • Additions related to eco-design and energy labelling
