What is ISO 22282‑4 about?
ISO 22282‑4 is the fourth part of a multi-series of documents that is applicable to geotechnical investigation and testing on geohydraulic testing.
ISO 22282‑4 establishes requirements for pumping tests as part of geotechnical investigation service in accordance with EN 1997‑1 and EN 1997‑2.
ISO 22282‑4 applies to pumping tests performed on aquifers whose permeability is such that pumping from a well can create a lowering of the piezometric head within hours or days depending on the ground conditions and the purpose.
The tests concerned by ISO 22282‑4 are those intended for evaluating the hydrodynamic parameters of an aquifer and well parameters such as:
- Permeability of the aquifer
- Radius of influence of the pumping
- Pumping rate of a well
- Response of drawdown in an aquifer during pumping
- Skin effect
- Well storage
- Response of recovery in an aquifer after pumping
Note: It covers pumping tests carried out in soils and rock
Who is ISO 22282‑4 for?
ISO 22282‑4 on geohydraulic pumping tests is useful for:
- Hydrogeologists
- Civil engineers
- Geotechnical engineers
- Technical consultants
- Contractors
Why should you use ISO 22282‑4?
Geotechnical testing is carried out by geotechnical engineers, geotechnical technicians, or engineering geologists to determine the features of a worksite, such as the physical attributes. Geotechnical studies are conducted to assess the geology, seismologic, and soil conditions that affect the project's safety, cost-effectiveness, design, and execution.
The test is described under ISO 22282‑4 is to determine and access rules and regulations on geotechnical testing services. The test entails measuring the pumped discharge as well as the water level in the test well and piezometers as a function of time before, during, and after pumping. Pumping from a well to lower the piezometric surface of the groundwater.
Pumping tests as part of geotechnical investigation services when governed by ISO 22282-4, will assist you in making better decisions about the project's safety, cost-effectiveness, design, and implementation.
