BS EN ISO 787-9:2019 supersedes BS EN ISO 787-9:1995, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 787-9:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 787-9:1995. These include:

- The duplicate determination has been changed to a single determination
- In addition to ethanol, methanol has been added as an alternative wetting agent
