What is ISO 787-2 about?

ISO 787 discusses general methods of test for pigments and extenders. ISO 787-2 is the second part of the multi-series specifies ISO 787 and discusses the determination of matter volatile at 105 °C

ISO 787-2 is a general method of test for determining the mass fraction in per cent of matter volatile at a temperature of 105 °C in a sample of pigment or extender. This method is applicable to pigments and extenders that are stable at 105 °C.

Who is ISO 787-2 for?

ISO 787-2 on general methods of test for pigments and extenders is useful for:

  • Paint Manufacturers
  • Quality control personnel

Why should you use ISO 787-2?

Volatile content is frequently used in paints and other types of coatings because of its ability to evaporate quickly and allow the coating to dry rapidly. Then the volatile content dries quickly, allowing the coating to solidify and adhere to the base material.

ISO 787-2 provides you with the test to determine the mass fraction to in matter volatile with sampling and with the number of determinations. This helps you in improving paint drying qualities

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN ISO 787-2:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 787-2:1995, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 787-2:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 787-2:1995. These include:

  • The normative references have been updated, and ISO 18451-1 has been added
  • Clause 3, Terms and definitions, has been added
  • The formula for calculating the test result has been modified
  • The text has been editorially revised
