What is BS EN 132036-Gas-fired domestic appliances about?  

BS EN 13203 discusses gas-fired domestic appliances producing hot water. BS EN 132036 is the sixth part of BS EN 13203 multi-series and discusses the assessment of energy consumption of adsorption and absorption heat pumps. 

BS EN 132036 is applicable to gas-fired appliances producing domestic hot water. It applies to sorption heat pumps connected to or including a domestic hot water storage tank. It applies to a package marketed as a single unit or fully specified that have: 

  • A heat input not exceeding 400 kW; and 
  • A hot water storage tank capacity (if any) not exceeding 2000L 

Note: Horizontal ground heat sources are not covered by the scope of the present BS EN 132036.

A gas-fired domestic appliance producing a hot water heater is a gas-fired hot water generator. Such a water heater has a burner that can heat water by means of natural gas or propane. BS EN 132036 sets out a method for assessing the energy performance of the appliances. 

BS EN 132036 defines several daily load profiles for each domestic hot water use, kitchen, shower, bath, and a combination of these, together with corresponding test procedures, enabling the energy performances of different gas-fired appliances to be compared and matched to the needs of the user.
