What is ISO 15995 about?
ISO 15995 covers specifications and testing of LPG cylinder valves. A gas cylinder is a pressure vessel for the storage and containment of gases at above atmospheric pressure. ISO 15995 specifies the requirements for design, specification, type testing production testing and inspection of dedicated LPG manually operated cylinder valves for use with and directly connected to transportable refillable LPG cylinders.
ISO 15995 also includes requirements for associated equipment for vapour and liquid service.
Pressure values given in ISO 15995 are given as gauge pressure. Cylinder valves complying with ISO 15995 can be expected to perform satisfactorily under normal service conditions. ISO 15995 also covers requirements for product testing and inspection.
Note 1: Bursting discs and/or fusible plugs are not covered in ISO 15995
Note 2: ISO 15995 excludes other LPG cylinder devices which are not an integral part of the dedicated manually operated cylinder valve.
Note 3: ISO 15995 does not apply to cylinder valves for fixed automotive installations and ball valves.
Who is ISO 15995 for?
ISO 15995 on gas cylinders is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of gas cylinders and gas cylinders valves
- Powering industrial ovens sectors
- Inspection bodies that include inspection of gas cylinders in their service
- Commercial and industrial sectors
- Quality control personnel
- Testing laboratories
- Industrial and commercial sectors
Why should you use ISO 15995?
Gas cylinders valves are designed to withstand mechanical impact without needing additional protection, they need to comply with the highest quality standards and regulations. ISO 15995 provides you with all performance and design requirements for manually operated valves which ensure the correct functioning and fitting of valve cap and plugs of LPG cylinders and checks for other detect in the cylindrical valve prior to dispatch on storage.
ISO 15995 describes the valve that withstands operating pressures and test pressures, operating temperatures and test temperature, mechanical stresses during operation and vibration during transport. Gas cylinders valves need to be manufactured from compatible materials. For the selection of appropriate material for valve ISO 15995 instructs that it is important to select not only for adequate strength in service, but also to consider other modes of failure due to atmospheric corrosion, brass dezincification, stress corrosion, shock loads, and material failure. Using ISO 15995 you can specify the requirements for design, specification, type testing production testing and inspection of dedicated LPG manually operated cylinder valves for use with and directly connected to transportable refillable LPG cylinders.
