What is BSI Flex 1903 v2.0 about?
BSI Flex 1903 is the first standard in the Future Flight Standards Programme, where BSI is supporting the Future Flight Challenge, and working a wider ecosystem of stakeholders, to prioritize and progress areas for standardization. This will help support safe development and trialling of innovative aircraft and drones, as well as infrastructure and operations.
The aim of this BSI Flex is to create a lexicon of standard terms and acronyms used in this sector, so that when it comes to regulation and other future standards, all those involved will have a common understanding and vocabulary to use.
What does BSI Flex 1903 v2.0 cover?
This lexicon provides consensus-based definitions for 146 terms and 72 acronyms within the context of future flight systems and their associated environments, addressing the sector's evolving needs with key updates.
What is new?
- Addition of new terms related to the batteries, electrification and airworthiness.
- Updates to existing terms following the public consultation on Version 1.0.
- Inclusion of terms specifically requested by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
