What is BS EN 14037-1 - Prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating about?

BS EN 14037 discusses free-hanging heating and cooling surfaces for water with a temperature below 120°C. BS EN 14037-1 is the first part of BS EN 14037 multi-series and discusses technical specifications and requirements of prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating.

BS EN 14037-1 defines technical specifications and requirements of free-hanging prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels with an air gap between construction and the emitter (not embedded) fed with water at temperatures below 120 °C connected with a centralized heating supply source intended to be installed in buildings.

The panels should be installed with upper insulation. BS EN 14037-1 also defines the additional common data that the manufacturer must provide to the trade to ensure the correct application of the products.

Note 1: BS EN 14037-1 does not apply to independent heating devices.

Note 2: BS EN 14037-1 does not cover the performance of hanging accessories.

Who is BS EN 14037-1Prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating for?

BS EN 14037-1 on prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating is useful for:

  • Radiant panel heater manufacturers
  • Heater manufacturers
  • Design engineers
  • Quality control personnel

Why should you use BS EN 14037-1 -Prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating?

Heated and chilled ceiling radiant panels falling into the field of application hereinafter stated are traded based on their thermal output. For evaluating and comparing different heated and chilled ceiling surfaces it is, therefore, necessary to refer to a heating stipulated value.

BS EN 14037-1 provides you with the necessary guidance on the general requirements for prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating. BS EN 14037-1 guides you with the assessment and verification of constancy of performance of prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels that help you with compliance with the requirements of BS EN 14037-1.

BS EN 14037-1 guides you with the minimum data that the manufacturer or authorized representatives shall give in his technical documentation referred to the product for the design and installation of the relevant heating appliance. BS EN 14037-1 helps you to manufacture high-quality prefabricated ceiling-mounted radiant panels for space heating.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN 14037-1:2016 supersedes BS EN 14037-1:2003 which is withdrawn. BS EN 14037-1:2016 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 14037-1:2003. These include:

  • The title has been changed
