These machines can be fed by hand or mechanically.

BS EN 12042 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations, and events relevant to the transport, installation, adjustment, operation, cleaning, maintenance, dismantling, disassembling, and scrapping of automatic dough dividers, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are foreseeable by the manufacturer.

Who is BS EN 12042 for?

BS EN 12042 on automatic dough dividers is relevant to:

  • Food industry
  • Automatic dough divider manufacturers
  • Automatic dough divider designers
  • Machine safety and maintenance personnel
  • Certification bodies
  • Food quality and hygiene control departments

Why should you use BS EN 12042+A1?

Most food processing machinery can cause injury to people, and machinery accidents figure prominently in official accident statistics. These injuries may range in severity from a minor cut or bruise, through various degrees of wounding and disabling mutilation, to crushing, decapitation or another fatal injury.

BS EN 12042 provides safety and hygiene requirements for automatic dough dividing machines to safeguard the users from hazardous zones.

BS EN 12042 covers all significant hazards, hazardous situations, and events relevant to the transport, installation, adjustment, operation, cleaning, maintenance, dismantling, disassembling, and scrapping of automatic dough dividers. The hazards include:

  • Mechanical hazards
  • Electrical hazards
  • Hazards generated by materials and substances
  • Spilling oil hazard
  • Hazard from microbial growth or foreign materials
  • Ejection of parts, explosion and injection of fluid

BS EN 12042 also identifies five danger zones with mechanical hazards.

A noise test code is included in BS EN 12042 to assist manufacturers to measure noise levels for the purpose of the noise emission declaration.

BS EN 12042 helps users identify all the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events identified by risk assessment as significant for automatic dough dividers, which will enable you to take the necessary action to eliminate or reduce the risks. As a result, you can improve the quality of food products and achieve operational efficiency with regards to the performance of the automatic dough divider.
