Why should you use BS EN 60695-9-1 – Fire hazard testing? 

Fire hazard defines a physical object or condition with a potential for an undesirable consequence from fire. 

BS EN 60695-9-1 provides guidance on the principles of flame spread in which the surface spread of flame over a liquid surface is governed by the flash and fire points of the liquid. The flashpoint is the minimum temperature to which the liquid is heated for the vapours emitted to ignite momentarily in the presence of a flame under specified test conditions. 

BS EN 60695-9-1 gives guidance on the principles of the surface spread of flame over a solid surface is always associated with airflow, caused by external factors (wind and ventilation) and by airflows induced by the flame itself. Air flowing in the opposite direction to that of the surface spread of flame (opposed flow) reduces the surface spread of flame rate and airflow in the same direction as the surface spread of flame (wind-aided) enhances the surface spread of flame rate.
