What is BS EN 1996-1-1 - General rules for reinforced and unreinforced masonry structures about?
BS EN 1996-1-1 is the first sub-part of the first part of the multiple series document that focuses on the basis for the design of buildings and civil engineering works in masonry, which deals with unreinforced masonry and reinforced masonry where the reinforcement is added to provide ductility, strength or improve serviceability.
Note 1: The principles of the design of prestressed masonry and confined masonry are given, but application rules are not provided. This Part is not valid for masonry with a plan area of fewer than 0,04 m2.
