What is ISO 8210 about?

ISO 8210 specifies a test procedure for the measurement and testing of combine harvesters. It applies to either self-propelled or trailed type, either directly cutting the crop or picking it up from a windrow, for use in several crops.

ISO 8210 specifies the terminology and methods to be used for measuring important characteristics of combine harvesters.

ISO 8210 includes both functional and capacity tests, in other words, those conducted over an extended period when ease of operation, ease of adjustment, rate of work and general operating characteristics can be assessed, and those carried out on specific occasions for the determination of grain loss and capacity characteristics.

ISO 8210 applies to all types of combine harvesters.

Who is ISO 8210 for?

ISO 8210 on test procedure and performance assessment for combine harvesters are applicable to:

  • Manufactures for harvesting machines
  • Companies dealing with large- or small-scale machines for harvesting
  • suppliers and distributors for harvesting machines

Why should you use ISO 8210?

Manual harvesting is slow and done using simple hand tools such as sickles and knives. That’s why mechanized machines are used in harvesting to increase the output of crops harvested and save time along with enhancing the quality of the final product.

These machines simply combine the three major harvesting operations: reaping, threshing, and winnowing into a single process.

ISO 8210 provides you with the different types of test procedures for combine harvesting such as: test combine harvester, comparison combine harvester, test run, catch, grain catch, separator catch, cleaning catch that assists in manufacturing combine harvesters for harvesting equipment in a standardized manner.

By adopting ISO 8210 you can enhance the quality and efficiency of combine harvesters to increase the performance of work done through combine harvesters.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 8210:2021 supersedes BS 7560:1992, which is withdrawn. The main changes with respect to the previous edition are:

  • Test and performance requirements have been added
  • Keys have been added to Figures 1 and 2.
  • Clarifications have been made in Clause 7.
