What is BS EN 62433-2 - EMC IC model about?

BS EN 62433-2 is the second part of an international standard used for EMC IC modellingBS EN 62433-2 specifies macro-models for an Integrated Circuit (IC) to simulate conducted electromagnetic emissions on a printed circuit board. The model is commonly called Integrated Circuit Emission Model – Conducted Emission (ICEM-CE). BS EN 62433-2 defines structures and components of the macro-model for EMI simulation taking into account the IC’s internal activities.  This BS EN 62433-2 contains two main parts:

  • The first is the electrical description of ICEM-CE macro-model elements along with the specific requirements for information.
  • The second part proposes a universal data exchange format called CEML based on XML.

Note: The ICEM-CE macro-model can be used to model both digital and analogue ICs.

Who is BS EN 62433-2 - EMC IC model for?

BS EN 62433-2 on EMC IC modelling is useful for:

  • Manufacturers of electronic devices
  • Manufacturers of integrated circuits
  • Manufacturers of automotive parts
  • Electronic engineers

Why should you use BS EN 62433-2 - EMC IC model

EMC-IC is a software or non-commercial tool that deals with the electromechanical compatibility of integrated circuits. Thus, this EMC-IC helps in covering both parasitic emission and susceptibility to radiofrequency (RF) interference.

BS EN 62433-2 is useful in predicting the electromagnetic behaviour of equipment. This prediction is possible by switching the input and output interference which leads to the effective working of the IC model. With the help of BS EN 62433-2, you can identify the basic component parts of the IC macro-model which are needed in the production process. By applying BS EN 62433-2, you can classify the EMC IC model into different types. The design and measurement specified in BS EN 62433-2 helps in determining the parameters of EMC IC model.

BS EN 62433-2 specifies the structure and components of EMC IC model which helps in stimulating electromagnetic emissions on a printed circuit board.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN 62433-2:2017 supersedes BS EN 62433-2:2010. BS EN 62433-2:2017 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 62433-2:2010. This includes the incorporation of an XML based exchange format for model representation.
