What is BS EN 12015 about?
BS EN 12015 discusses electromagnetic compatibility for lifts, escalators, and moving walks. For electromagnetic equipment and products to function smoothly, they need to be immune to interference from surrounding signals. Regulatory bodies have distributed radiofrequency signal bandwidths across products so that such interference is avoided.
BS EN 12015 specifies the emission limits in relation to electromagnetic disturbances and test conditions for lifts, escalators, and moving walks, which are intended to be permanently installed in buildings.
Note 1:BS EN 12015 is not applicable for apparatus which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN.
Note 2: These limits may not provide full protection against disturbances caused to radio and TV reception when such equipment is used within distances given.
Who is BS EN 12015 for?
BS EN 12015 on electromagnetic compatibility is useful for:
- Manufacturers of products such as lifts and escalators
- Lift Maintenance personnel
- Regulatory and safety bodies
Why should you use BS EN 12015?
Guidelines on emission limits are intended to facilitate the smooth functioning of devices and equipment. BS EN 12015 has been prepared to provide one means of complying with the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive requirements. BS EN 12015 guides you to ensure that your electromagnetic emission levels stay within recommended limits as per the EMC directive requirements so that they do not interfere with the frequencies of other equipment.
