What is BS EN 61857-22 - Wire-wound electrical insulation system (EIS) about?

BS EN 61857-22 is a European standard on encapsulated- coil model. BS EN 61857-22 is a part of the IEC 61857 series which provides a general-purpose procedure for the evaluation of wire-wound systems using a general-purpose encapsulated-coil model (ECM) where the application is unknown.

Note 1: The encapsulated-coil model (ECM) does not employ a supplemental shell.

Note 2: For evaluating an electrical insulation system (EIS), the process may consist of injection moulding, compression moulding, casting or other techniques

Who is BS EN 61857-22 - Wire-wound electrical insulation system (EIS) for?

BS EN 61857-22 on wire-wound electrical insulation system (EIS) is useful for:

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Military purposes for navigation and sensors
  • Train manufacturing
  • Oil industries
  • Tidal energy manufacturing

Why should you use BS EN 61857-22 - Wire-wound electrical insulation system (EIS)

If the wire-wound electrical insulation is not done properly, then it is risk to life, capital and property.

BS EN 61857-22 provides a guideline to manufacturers on how to use general requirements for encapsulated coil models to get the best result.

BS EN 61857-22 best practices guidance, can ensure quality assurance, durability, and safety of the user/manufacturer.
