What is BS EN 60873-2 - Inspection and routine testing for electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders about?

BS EN 60873-2 is the second part of the multi-part series that applies the electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders (for use in industrial process control systems), operating from a standardized signal which may be used in process control.

BS EN 60873-2 is intended that continuous and dotted line traces, multiple pens, and multiple-channel instruments should be covered. Some tests may not apply to all instruments and additional tests may be required for certain types of recorders.

The object of BS EN 60873-2 is to provide technical guidance for inspection and routine testing of electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders, for instance, as acceptance tests or after repair.

For a full evaluation, or where a recorder is to be used under arduous conditions, (for example, high temperatures), IEC 60873-1 should be used.

Whenever possible any tests carried out are to be by IEC 61298, and the person carrying out the tests needs to have a copy of it to hand and be familiar with it.

Who is BS EN 60873-2 - Inspection and routine testing for electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders for?

BS EN 60873-2 on inspection and routine testing for electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders  is useful for:

  • Electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorder manufacturers
  • Testing laboratories
  • Regulatory authorities
  • Design engineers

Why should you use BS EN 60873-2 - Inspection and routine testing for electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders?

A chart recorder is an instrument used to record various processes and electrical signals. The most traditional chart recorder data on paper. The paper is based under a pen and the pen is deflected in proportion to the signal. The acceptance tests are intended to prove to the user that the device complies with certain conditions of its requirements as they appear in the contract.

BS EN 60873-2 guides you regarding sampling for test and performance tests on measured error, hysteresis, effects of influence quantities, recording quality, paper speed and step response for proper inspection of electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders for use in industrial process control systems.

With compliance to BS EN 60873-2, you can properly inspect and maintain routine testing for the electrical and pneumatic analogue chart recorders for use in industrial process control systems.
