What is BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 about?
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 is part 3-7 of the IEC 62841 standard that details safety requirements for transportable wall saws that ensures the safe operability and longevity of wall saws.
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 applies to transportable wall saws guided by a track guiding system intended for dry cutting or to be connected to a liquid system for cutting concrete, stone or similar material by means of a diamond wheel. The rated speed of the diamond wheel should not exceed a peripheral speed of 100 m/s at rated capacity and the rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase ac or dc tools and 480V for three-phase ac tools.
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 also gives you requirements for transportable wall saws such as heating, resistance to heat and fire, moisture resistance, rusting, overload protection, mechanical hazards and more for ensuring equipment safety.
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 covers all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant for tools covered under it.
NOTE: BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 does not apply to –
- Transportable wall saws with a design that allows an automatic change of cutting direction without user intervention before any change of cutting direction
- Transportable wall saws that employ hydraulic systems
- Hand-held cut-off machines. But they will be covered in the coming future
Who is BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 for?
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 on safety requirements for transportable wall saws applies to:
- Electric hand-held tool distributors and suppliers
- Manufacturers of electric handheld wall saws
- Quality assurance testing houses for wall saws
- Industries using wall saws
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62841-3-7?
Vertical panel saws, also known as wall saws, can cut panels on vertical work surfaces. Their design has the advantage of space and easy handling of materials. They can be operated automatically or manually. They operate at high speeds and failures at that speed can be detrimental to the safety of the operators.
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 provides you information on electric handheld and transportable tools and machinery especially transportable wall saws, that includes different safety aspects such as conditions, radiation, toxicity, protection against access to live parts which helps you look after the safety aspect of wall saws in compliance with standard procedure.
BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 also gives you requirements for transportable wall saws in different instances such as resistance to heat and fire, moisture resistance, rusting, overload protection, mechanical hazards and more which will reduce operational risks related to wall saws.
Buyers of BS EN IEC 62841-3-7 can follow the aspects that are necessary for building or verifying transportable wall saws as per standard protocols.
