BS EN 62841-2-17 is a part of the IEC 62841 multi-series that discusses the safety of electric motor-operated hand-held tools. This European standard helps its users to produce more reliable and secure hand-held routers to reduce the risk of accidents while using them. 

BS EN 62841-2-17 applies to hand-held routers intended for cutting slots into or shaping the edge of the wood and analogous materials, plastics and non-ferrous metals except magnesium. 

BS EN 62841-2-17 is to be used in conjunction with BS EN 62841-1.
