What is BS EN 62343-3-1 Dynamic channel equalizers about?

BS EN 62343-3-1 is a part of an international multi-series standard that outlines the specifications for dynamic modules.

BS EN 62343-3-1 provides the specific requirements for the dynamic channel equalizer (DCE), which is used to compensate and equalize the variations in channel power spectrum as the optical channels propagate through DWDM networks.

A typical DCE module is an electrically controlled two-port device, which controls the time-varying power levels of multichannel input signals such that, at the output channel, powers are nominally equalized.

BS EN 62343-3-1 suggests that additional specification parameters may be included for product specifications or performance specifications. However, specification parameters specified in this standard should not be removed from the product specifications or performance specifications.

Who is BS EN 62343-3-1 Dynamic channel equalizers for?

BS EN 62343-3-1 on Dynamic channel equalizers is useful for:

  • Manufacturers and suppliers of dynamic channel equalizers
  • Dealers and distributors of dynamic channel equalizers
  • Designers of dynamic channel equalizers
  • Test/ service providers for dynamic channel equalizers

Why should you use BS EN 62343-3-1 Dynamic channel equalizers?

A dynamic channel equalizer (DCE) is used to compensate and equalize the variations in channel power spectrum as the optical channels propagate through DWDM networks.

BS EN 62343-3-1 provides a performance specification template for the dynamic channel equalizer (DCE).  It serves the objective of setting out a performance specification template, that provides you with a framework for the preparation of detailed specifications on the product or performance of dynamic channel equalizers. This helps the users of BS EN 62343-3-1 to design and construct a dynamic channel equalizer that is according to the global norms and conforms to be high-quality, efficient, and reliable dynamic modules.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS EN 62343-3-1:2016 supersedes BS EN 62343-3-1:2010, which is withdrawn. BS EN 62343-3-1:2016 includes modification of terms, definitions, and references, with respect to the previous edition.
