What is ISO 10802 about?  

ISO 10802 is an international standard on ductile iron pipelines which covers hydrostatic testing after installation. 

ISO 10802 specifies site hydrostatic acceptance tests for installed pressure and non-pressure ductile iron pipelines used for conveying water and other liquids. 

NOTE: ISO 10802 does not cover the testing of pipelines for gas.

Why should you use ISO 10802?  

Hydrostatic testing is a process where components such as piping systems, gas cylinders, boilers, and pressure vessels are tested for strength and leaks. 

ISO 10802 provides the safety measures related to personnel, works, equipment and during the test and the preparation methods, fittings and accessories of ductile iron pipelines. 

The procedure of the pressure testing of a pipeline with cement mortar is explained in ISO 10802. 

Overall, these test methods allow you to detect leaks in pipelines by applying pressure to them, allowing you to examine their strengths and ensuring the safety and structural integrity of various pressure and non-pressure ductile iron pipelines. 

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS ISO 10802:2020 replaces ISO 10802:1992. BS ISO 10802:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to ISO 10802:1992. These include: 

  • Add the safety instructions for hydrostatic testing operation 
  • Add hydrostatic test flow chart 
  • Add several diagrams for comprehensiveness 
  • Add pressure drop test method, as an alternative of constant pressure test.
