What is BS EN 156982 - Twin-pipe assembly about?  

BS EN 15698 is a series of European standards on district heating pipes that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for building safe thermally insulated bonded twin-pipe assemblies. BS EN 156982 is the second part of a series of documents on district heating pipes. BS EN 156982 specifies requirements and test methods for fittings of factory-made thermally insulated bonded twin-pipe assemblies for hot water networks by EN 139411, comprising two steel services fittings and/or valves, polyurethane foam thermal insulation, and one casing of polyethylene. 

The pipe assembly can also include the following additional elements: measuring wires, spacers, and diffusion barriers. 

NOTE 1: BS EN 156982 covers the following assemblies:

  • Valve construction 

NOTE 2: BS EN 156982 applies to fitting and valve assemblies with a minimum design pressure of 1,6 MPa (overpressure).
