What is PD CEN/TR 17079 - Design of fastenings about?

PD CEN/TR 17079 is applicable to the design of fastenings for use in concrete.

PD CEN/TR 17079 provides design rules for fasteners used to connect statically indeterminate non-structural lightweight systems (e.g., suspended ceilings, pipework, ducting) to concrete members such as walls or floors).

PD CEN/TR 17079 applies to non-structural applications in structures covered by EN 199211. In applications where special considerations apply, e.g., nuclear power plants or civil defence structures, modifications may be necessary.

Note-

PD CEN/TR 17079 does not cover the design of the fixture. The design of the fixture will be carried out to comply with the appropriate Standards.

Who is PD CEN/TR 17079 - Design of fastenings for?

PD CEN/TR 17079 on redundant non-structural systems is useful for:

  • Construction industries
  • Civil engineer
  • Residential areas
  • Civil defence structures
  • Atomic nuclear power plants

Why should you use PD CEN/TR 17079 - Design of fastenings

PD CEN/TR 17079 proposed design model assumes that load transfer to adjacent fixing points takes place when an excessive slip or failure of a fastener occurs under extreme conditions (e.g., large crack width).

Overall, PD CEN/TR 17079 provides you with the design guidance for post-installed fasteners for fixing statically indeterminate non-structural lightweight systems with at least three fixing points. The fixing may be into normal weight concrete or precast prestressed hollow-core slabs.

PD CEN/TR 17079 helps you improve the structural integrity of the building.
